It’s week 6 of The Studio x Eating Well Not Less 6-week spring clean, Steph is bringing you a great smoothie you can have any time of the day!
So, this week I’ve made a smoothie recipe – if you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know I absolutely love smoothies. I love them as an afternoon snack or a quick and easy breakfast and think they’re a great way to get fruit, veg, protein, fiber, and healthy fats into the diet. But the reason I’ve included a smoothie in this Spring Clean series is that I feel that people often have smoothies just because they think they’re healthy and not because they actually fancy one. They whack in a load of kale, cucumber, and celery and don’t even enjoy it. Which I think is such a shame because a good smoothie is absolutely d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s. So, I’ve made a Kinder Bueno smoothie – and oh my word it’s delicious. A chocolately delight but jam-packed with protein, healthy fats, veg, and fiber.
About the Ingredients
The ingredient that gives it its Kinder Bueno taste is hazelnut butter – I made mine myself but you can buy it from Amazon, some supermarkets, and wholefood shops. But don’t worry you don’t have to go running out to find some you can substitute a small handful of hazelnuts instead. I’ve also used hazelnut nut milk – I love Innocent plant milks as they’re super creamy and not as watery as some plant milks, buy use whichever brand you can get your hands on. We’ve added a Medjool date for sweetness but you can just use a couple of normal dates if that’s what you have in the cupboard. Cacao powder for the chocolatey taste and a scoop of vanilla protein powder for sweetness and protein boost.
I’ve also added frozen cauliflower so we get an added portion of veg in the day and you absolutely cannot taste it. I buy a big bag of frozen cauliflower and have it in the freezer ready to chuck straight into smoothies. One thing I will say though is make sure you blend it properly as the cauliflower can be a little reluctant to blend and you may end up with a lump in your smoothie – just spoon it out if this happens!

1 frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tbsp flaxseed (optional)
1 tsp cacao powder
1 tbsp hazelnut butter or small handful hazelnuts
1 medjool date, pit removed
2 florets of frozen cauliflower
250ml hazelnut milk – or more depending on the desired consistency
- Whizz everything in a blender until smoothie. When you think it’s done whizz it a little more as the cauliflower takes a bit of blending.
